The most popular and convenient locations tend to fill up quickly, so early planning is essential to secure the best options for your trip.

Weather in Korea during Summer

Before we dive into the activities, let’s talk about the weather in Korea during the summer. Summer in Korea runs from June to August and is generally hot and humid, with temperatures ranging from 25 to 35 degrees Celsius. It is also the rainy monsoon season, so be sure to bring an umbrella or raincoat. However, despite the heat and humidity, summer is a popular season for tourists as there are many festivals and events during this time.

Summer in Korea Month-by-Month Breakdown

Summer honestly is one of the most difficult times to travel within South Korea. It’s some of the hottest times of the year even for many South East Asians due to the humidity, extreme heat, and monsoon season (rainy season). I highly suggest you visit during Autumn in South Korea or Spring in South Korea.

Here is a month-by-month breakdown of what to expect during the weather overview for summer in Korea:

June in Korea

June is the start of summer in Korea, and it is a great time to explore the country’s natural beauty. The weather is warm and sunny, and the countryside is in full bloom. Some popular activities during this time include hiking, camping, and visiting the beaches.

July in Korea

July is one of the hottest months in Korea, with temperatures often reaching over 30°C (86°F). This is the perfect time to cool off at the beach or visit a water park. The Boryeong Mud Festival is also held during this month, where visitors can enjoy mud-based activities such as mud wrestling and mudslides.

August in Korea

August is the peak of summer in Korea, and it is a great time to participate in indoor activities. Unfortunately, the weather is quite bad around this time with heavy rains and monsoon weather. You may even have to worry about heavy flooding. The weather is still hot, but it starts to cool down towards the end of the month. This is also a great time to attend the Busan International Film Festival, which takes place in late August.

September in Korea

September is the transition month from summer to fall in Korea. The weather starts to cool down, and the leaves begin to change color. This is a great time to go on a scenic drive through the countryside or visit a national park. The Seoul Lantern Festival is also held in September, where visitors can enjoy beautiful lantern displays throughout the city.

Typhoons in Korea

Summer in Korea is typically hot and humid, with temperatures ranging from 25 to 35 degrees Celsius. However, the weather can vary depending on the region and altitude, with the eastern coast and mountainous areas generally experiencing cooler temperatures.

Another weather phenomenon that can occur during the summer in Korea is typhoons. Typhoons are tropical cyclones that can bring strong winds, heavy rain, and flooding to the region. Typhoon season in Korea typically runs from July to September, with August being the peak month for typhoon activity.

While typhoons can bring destructive winds and rain, they are usually not as severe in Korea as in other parts of Asia. However, it’s important to stay informed about any weather warnings or advisories during your trip, and to take necessary precautions, such as staying indoors during the typhoon and avoiding traveling to affected areas.

In general, it’s a good idea to check the weather forecast before planning any outdoor activities, and to pack appropriate clothing and gear for the expected weather conditions. Stay informed about any weather warnings or advisories during your trip, and follow the instructions of local authorities if necessary.

When is Summer in Korea?

Summer in Korea typically starts in June and lasts until August. During this time, the weather in Korea is usually hot and humid with temperatures ranging from 25 to 35 degrees Celsius. However, it’s worth noting that the weather can vary depending on the region and altitude, so it’s important to check the weather forecast before planning your trip.
