1 | Skyscanner (FREE APP)

Skyscanner is my go to travel app! If you want to find great deals on flights and where to find them, definitely check this app out. I would suggest you look into some of the booking sites and see how reputable they are prior to booking with them. For the most part, they are successful and reputable companies but there can be a few you need to look out for. What I love about skyscanner is being able to see explore places from my destination and see what and where is the best time to travel.

2 | Hopper (FREE APP)

Hopper is another great app for finding flights. It’s great because it will tell you when it finds cheaper flights for the destination that you choose.

3 | Google Maps (FREE APP)

Google maps is my go to for everything travel related. I love to save destinations and places in google maps, it’s great to save places you’ve visited so you can remember what food places to recommend or save for next time and so much more. It is such a versatile map that you can do so much with. It will even help you find which transits to take to get to your destination.

4 | Booking.com (FREE APP)

Booking.com is my go to for all hotel or hostel bookings. It’s perfect because it tells you the amount including tax. You can find anything on here, see and read reviews to find the perfect place to stay on your vacation. It’s great as an app because it automatically saves all your bookings in one perfect resource.

5 | AirBNB (FREE APP)

AirBNB is another great resource for booking places. I highly suggest this for large families or groups that are traveling together. It makes it easier to have everyone together in a place and great to cook your own food and feel at home.

6 | Trip It (FREE APP)

Trip It is the perfect travel app that puts all your itineraries into one location. It’s perfect see all your flights, trains, and hotel bookings all in one itinerary available on your phone and app. This is my favorite travel itinerary app by far!

7 | Google Trips (FREE APP)

Google Trips is an awesome little app that allows you to put your favorite destinations and itineraries into one app.  I think there are a few changes that need to be made, but it is a new and developing travel app that has a lot of potential.  With Google being one of the leading online and app businesses, I am sure that this app is going to be one for travelers to not be without.

8 | TripScout (FREE APP but $1-3 per destination)

TripScout is an amazing app that has a lot of information from locals and visitors alike.

9 | Pack Point ($2.99)

Pack Point is my favorite travel packing app and checklist. It is a perfect app to customize to your needs and wants and put it all into a packing list.  It estimates the climates when you put in your dates for your trip. This app perfect for packing for your next trip.

10 | Stylebook

OMG, if you do not have stylebook, you need to get it asap.  This is a girl’s dream and can go beyond just travel needs. It is perfect because you can take pictures of your clothes and make images of your outfits and what you plan on wearing through out your trip.  It helps you pack each individual clothing item that you need for each planned outfit.  This is perfect for the girls who want to slay on their trips and stay stylish.

11 | App in the Air (FREE APP)

App in the Air is an awesome app that provides you with in-flight time to your destination! It saves your booking information as well in case you need it along with a checklist of things you will need to take care of before your flight.

12 | Globe Convert (FREE APP)

You can travel internationally with a currency conversion app! This one is seriously my favorite and it does more than currency. You can look up different forms of measurement, distance, weight, etc. I heavily rely on this app on a daily basis when traveling or prepping for my travels.

13 | Uber (FREE APP)

I prefer Uber way more than lyft. I have used it a few times in Europe, Mexico and of the course the US. Uber is a taxi ride service that allows you to use the app for an on-demand ride service. It’s seriously a life changer and one of the most used travel apps!

14 | Duolingo (FREE APP)

So, you have your next trip planned and you want to brush up on your language skills? Well Duolingo is the perfect app for you! It helps you from a beginner status to an advanced skill.  It’s perfect for trying to remember some of those words you forgot or need to learn. Also, help with phrases and remembering what you have learned.

15 | Google Translate

I don’t feel like I use this app often, although it is good to have on hand.  If you are having a language barrier between people, this app is perfect! It allows you to speak into the mic and it translates what the person is saying and vice versa.  However, you do need to have data in order to us this app, which makes it hard in areas where signal isn’t working or if you don’t have international data.

16 | WhatsApp or Kik Messenger or iMessage

Having some sort of Wi-Fi capable messaging device is important.  I listed these three because they are the most commonly used ones. It doesn’t matter which one you have, but it is perfect for staying in touch with family, friends or more while abroad. I chose these for people who do not have international data in their plan because they are perfect to use at any location that has Wi-Fi.

17 | Trabee Pocket or Trail Wallet

If you are traveling on a budget like I am or just want to watch your budget throughout your trip, these two apps are perfect for you.  You can put in the amount you have spent for different expenses such as Accommodation, Food, Transport, Entertainment, or Misc. It is perfect to organize all your travel expenses and know how much money you can spend daily.  It helps you to stay on track which is why this is added to the top travel apps list.

18 | Been (FREE APP)

I absolutely love this app! This app is a great way to remember all of the countries and states in the United States that you have traveled to. It is a great way to keep track and know the percentage of the world you have touched. I love reflecting and listing all the places I have “been” to.

19 | Evernote (FREE APP)

Evernote is my absolute go to note app. I have done notes on iPhone and don’t get me wrong, it’s an okay and nice app, but there was a time that I lost everything on my notes and realized how much more valuable Evernote was to be and being able to keep records of all my notes. I love posting pictures and listing out things I plan to see or do on my travel itineraries and have all that all accessible offline.

20 | Skype or Facetime

Just like the Wi-Fi capable messengers, this is just another way to have some face to face time with your loved ones. Skype is also a good back up for international calling if you do not want to be charged ridiculous amounts of money for calling.

  1. So many great apps! I’m always on the hunt for new ones to try. And I wish I would have known about Trail Wallet when I was in Europe last, but am going to have to try it on my next trip!
