There are a few reasons why you should get a sim card in Italy. First of all, having a sim card will allow you to stay connected while you’re there. You took the time to plan a trip to Italy, so you need access to your reservations, locations you want to visit, and be able to contact people in case of an emergency. But this is still good to have especially if you are new to international travel.

This is an excellent resource for a packing list on your phone. You can edit this one to your liking but can help you plan the perfect trip and not forget what you need. You pretty much include what you need to add to your list of things you will be doing on the trip such as the beach, hiking, etc and it combines a list of items you will need for that trip.
Rome Metro
Rome (actually all of Europe and Asia) has an excellent public transportation system. This app will help you find where you need to get to through public transportation.
FreeNow
If you aren’t taking public transportation or you need to get to a location that public transportation can not get you to, FreeNow is an excellent resource. It is like UBER and can be fairly cheap in comparison.
Drink in Italy
Water in Italy can be very expensive, so this app is very helpful in finding areas where there are water fountains. When planning your trip to Italy, bring a water bottle from home (which is also great to fill up in the airports as well) or purchase a water bottle and refill it.
Google Translate
While google translate is not always accurate, it does provide the best translation you can on your phone. It will get your point across as necessary if you happen to find yourself in an area where no one speaks English. It’s good to have on hand for those just-in-case moments. Be sure to download Italian, so that the translation doesn’t need to be searched via the internet. This is essential that most forget to include when they plan a trip to Italy.
