Every year I love to write a post around earth day to celebrate all the beautiful things we get to encounter as travelers. Therefore, it is important to remember and find alternative ways to stay eco-friendly which includes products for your travel adventures. I have traveled frequently and love eco-friendly products not only because of the reusability but also the cost savings. Here are some of my favorite Eco-Friendly Travel Products for 2018. Also, if you have read my Eco-Friendly Travel Products 2017, you will notice some of my favorites and even more below. If you want to see what I listed in last year’s post, check out Eco-Friendly Travel Products for 2017.
Eco-Friendly Travel Products
GoToob+ by Human Gear are some of my favorite products for 2018. They have made an upgrade to their original GoToob making the bottles larger, have wider mouths and a hook that makes it perfect to hang up in the shower or wherever. What is amazing about these products is that all your product is being used since the bottles are made of silicone making squeezing every drop more accessible. Secondly, you save so much money, time, and plastic on continuously buying trial or travel products at the store that these make a perfect solution to prevent putting more plastics into our landfills and oceans.
The Diva Cup is my favorite product for women. I was very hesitant about using a Diva Cup because it was foreign to me to use. I grew up in an American upbringing yet, a very conservative Asian household. So, I used pads for a very long time until I learned about tampons in college. I started using tampons but found them uncomfortable at times. Since using the Diva Cup, I haven’t turned back. I love using this menstrual cup because it saves me a lot of money and a lot of trips to the bathroom since it holds more than the normal tampon. Additionally, they are easy to clean and perfect for traveling in countries that do not have tampons.
I am sure many of you have seen plenty of times the video of the pour sea turtle with a straw shoved up his nose. This is a great alternative to your obsession with straws. Metal straws last forever and are recyclable which makes a perfect alternative. Be sure to purchase a straw cleaner (looks like a small version of a bottle cleaner) making it easy to clean.
Notebook/Phone and a Stylus
I know a lot of people recommend using a notebook or having a notebook. Although most notebooks are recyclable, as a preference I like to use my phone. I think since most people own phones that it would be better to write your notes in your phone. It would save our trees and allow you to still write your notes down and save them in the cloud making them easily accessible to computers. I understand if you need a physical notebook, but just keep this in mind as an alternative to be paper free.
Bee’s Wrap is the perfect gift and perfect eco-friendly product to bring with you. If you travel with reusable to go food containers, then Bee’s Wrap will be your new favorite product. The Bee’s Wrap is a cling wrap alternative made with eco-friendly materials. You can use this to wrap up fruit, vegetables, sandwiches, etc. It is only suggested that you do use it with meats. Additionally, the wrap uses the heat of your hands to be able to cling to your bowls, plates or cups.
I’ve stated this before in a past post, but I am huge advocate for using reusable bags. I have been using them for all my shopping for 3 almost 4 years and counting. It has been a lot easier to be more conscious of my carbon footprint. I always make sure to pack a small reusable bag for my trips or when purchasing items be sure to fill my backpack and refuse plastic bags. Some of my favorite reusable bags are made by Baggu, these bags fold up to be compact and are large totes. I like to pack these in my backpack when walking around and they come in handy when I need them.
Lush Shampoo Bars
There are tons of Lush products that I absolutely love. One of my most favorite products by Lush are their Shampoo Bars. What makes these bars great are the fact that they are a solid shampoo. This means they do not count toward the liquids you are allowed in your carry on. Additionally, they also last for a very long time, so you plan on traveling for a longer period of time, you won’t have to worry about running out of these babies. They have a ton of great smells and are perfect for any trip.
Reusable Water Bottles
I think this should be a no brainer, but I love bringing my reusable water bottle. My favorite brand is by Hydroflask since they keep water cold for up to 24 hours and hot for up to 12 hours. These are perfect for traveling because you reduce your waste on plastic bottles. They also come in a ton of cute colors and lids which makes it great for mismatching. This is probably my favorite eco-friendly travel product and is a must have on all my trips.
Here is my list for 2018 and I am sure the list will continue to grow as I learn to become more eco-friendly in the future. What were some of your favorite products? List them down below!
