Adventures in Milwaukee, Wisconsin

What can I say about beautiful Milwaukee!  Milwaukee was definitely an amazing surprise.  For those of you who don’t know, it is pretty much an up and coming town for food and drinks.  What do you go to Wisconsin for? Food, Cheese, Wine, Beer and Architecture! This is why Flirting with the Globe’s post on 5 Reason to go to Milwaukee was on my radar before my trip.  As I was traveling to visit my dear friend in Chicago, we made a little road trip to Milwaukee, which was surprisingly better than expected.

Places to See

Miller Stadium was such a site to see.  We saw it from the highway heading to our AirBNB and we had to check it out.  It has such a unique structure to it and luckily for us they had a lot of local games that week.  As you can see from the pictures below we had an amazing time, which was perfect for the baby to join us at.  Check out the schedule here.

Another fascinating location was the Bio Domes at Mitchell Park Conservatory.  We heard about these prior to our trip and they looked beautiful in the pictures we saw doing some research.  This was great for kids and little baby Luna had so much to see on this trip.  They have three different rooms with all different types of climates to host the plants for each temperature.  As you can see in the photos below, there was a tropical, dessert and flower locations.

Milwaukee is known for their River Front, there are a lot of restaurants, bars, etc alongside the River Front.  It is a great place to cruise around and look at the beautiful architecture.  The river isn’t a great place to swim in, however it is great to kayak and view the city that way.   I believe they also have a Kayaking Paddle Pub Crawl.

Pabst Mansion was pretty interesting to see.  Unfortunately, we were unable to take photos of the inside, but this house was built with such care.  There is so much to see in this beautiful house and to see the history behind it.  Definitely a must see, especially if you love Pabst Blue Ribbon.

Milwaukee Public Market is an amazing place to check out which you will be able to eat at St. Paul’s Fish Company, check out the local gift shops and food for sale.

Must have Eats

Get the cheapest lobster dinner for only $13.99 at  St. Paul’s Fish Company (which is located in the Milwaukee Public Market)!  Not only do they have amazing lobster, they also have cheap and delicious oysters.  If you want some of the amazing cheese in Wisconsin, you must try the cheese tasting at Wisconsin Cheese Mart.  On top of that they serve beer flights and amazing dishes filled with all types of cheese at the Uber Tap Room which is attached to the mart.  For amazing brunch, you must try Blue’s Egg.  Blue’s Egg is always packed even on the weekdays, however, don’t even bother trying on a weekend unless you are willing to wait an hour or longer.

Milwaukee is known for their lavishly beautiful Bloody Mary’s and their garnish.  You can get the Burger Bloody Mary (they also have one with a full fried chicken garnish) at Sobelman’s.  The Lobster Claw Bloody Mary at St. Paul’s Fish Company.   The beer flight and cheese platter came from the Wisconsin Cheese Mart, which also has amazing grub to pair with your beers.  The other locations to get beer you should try would be Revolution Brewing Co., which has tons of beer on tap and you can purchase a growler to take home.
