I joke with my boss often about being somewhat of a foodie, but my boss likes to tell me that I am a foodie in training while he is a foodie expert. Now maybe for Sacramento, that may be true only because of his age. However, after traveling to San Diego often with a brother and sister in law who are just as much foodies as I am, I hope I have dome justice through my choices of restaurants. So here goes my favorite 10 places to eat in San Diego, CA and must eat in San Diego.
2265 Bacon St., San Diego, CA 92107
3rd Corner has a little bit of everything from escargo to steak and more. This is a semi fancy place that serves great food and has an endless wine selection that you can pick prior to sitting down.
880 Harbor Island Dr., San Diego, CA 92101
C-Level is a perfect restaurant for those special occasions or people who just love seafood. This restaurant has a beautiful outdoor patio with a view of the city and ocean with plenty to offer on the menu. I highly recommend the mussels and clam in wine sauce, it is to die for! Their lobster sandwich is delightful as well and trust me they do not skimp on the seafood.
1403 Scott St., San Diego, CA 92106
This is my must have/must go to location. Mitch’s is my favorite seafood restaurant to go to when visiting San Diego. I go here often and maybe more than twice a week. I can eat anything off this menu but some of my favorites include the yellowtail sandwich, clam chowder and of course any taco on the menu (P.S. you can’t go to San Diego without eating some tacos right?).
2725 Shelter Island Dr., San Diego, CA 92106
Brigantine is perfect for Brunch or dinner. This restaurant has bottomless mimosas and delicious seafood. You can order different types of oysters which are all delicious and different.
4651 Park Blvd., San Diego, CA 92116
If you love Ethiopean place, this is the place for you. This place is absolutely delicious. I do warn that you are required to eat with your hands and not with utensils.
1980 Kettner Blvd., San Diego, CA 92101
Since my sister in law is recently Vegan, I had to throw in a few great Vegan Places! Cafe Gratitude is probably my favorite but not by very much compared to peach pies. Cafe Gratitude has some great main dishes to try along with some delicious desserts. It is definitely a place to check out if you are or love Vegan dishes.
4230 Voltaire St., San Diego, CA 92107
Another great Vegan place that you must try is Peace Pies! This place is amazing! Their food is so colorful, delicious and completely filling! They definitely do no skimp on their food options and it is a must try restaurant for San Diego.
2820 Historic Decatur Rd., San Diego, CA 92106
If you have traveled to Europe, this public market is very similar to many markets spread all over Europe. There are different stands with different places to try and eat. This is a great way to support many local businesses and try a little bit of everything. There are way too many dishes and restaurants to choose from which is perfect for the indecisive hanger.
2218 Cable Street, San Diego, CA 92107
OB Noodle House is a staple for locals in San Diego. They have a few chains around the area and offer delicious pho and other Vietnamese/Asian dishes. This Vietnamese restaurant is a pretty popular and modern place to eat at.
5010 Newton Ave., San Diego, CA 92107
Hodad’s is a popular and famous burger place that always had a long line around the corner. This place was featured on Guy Fieri’s TV show Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. It is a great place to visit in my favorite beach town Ocean Beach. You must try the bacon cheeseburger and expect to wait in line for quite some time to get your order.
These are some of my favorite places to eat in San Diego, CA. What are some of your favorite places?
